"Did you not hear her, Cadet?" The corporal's cadet glared at the young brunette as he freed your wrist. Red markings appeared on your skin, a proof of how tight the brunette's grip on you was. Eren straightened his back and looked into the man's eyes as well, an air of tension and silence dropping.

"Eren, they're starting." Mikasa nudged the teen towards the moving crowd, the blonde beside her doing the same as well.

"Y-Yeah...It'd be best if we go Eren. Now." Mikasa and Armin turned their backs at the brunette and walked the same direction the crowd was going in. Eren nodded in agreement, taking a final glance at you and another at the corporal that stood in front of him, his sharp eyes boring holes into his very being. Eren turned around, taking slow strides towards the moving crowd.

"You, hurry up." Rivaille pointed at you then at the crowd, you nodded slowly before thanking the man then walking towards the training grounds. Where you expect to hear an earful out of your superior. Your brows scrunched up as if deep in thought all the while you were walking. Your chest tightening as regret and sadness filled you.

I got to meet them again, my friends...but...why does my heart tell me to stay away? Like something bad is about to happen...soon... You shook your head, ridding yourself of the thought before biting your lower lip. Now's not the time to think, idiot! If Captain Keith catches me spacing out he'll-

A loud voice snapped you out of your thoughts. In front of you stood a sleep deprived man with huge bags under his eyes, Keith Shadis, the superior who is in charge of the trainees. His eyes stared into yours, before speaking again. Loudly.

"Do you intend to space out during an expedition as well? Humanity doesn't need any of you daydreamers in the military! Why don't you just go back to the Lance Corporal's office and spend the rest of your days there. I'm sure you've proven enough worth in that puny body of yours by doing so! The Corporal was an idiot, a true idiot by taking you in." A few snickers came from the crowd. You sighed before giving a salute to the man.

"May I have permission to speak, Sir?"

        "Yes you may Cadet."

"Permission to act?" You looked up at the man, his eye brows raised in supposed interest.

"Very well you may-" Keith however was not able to finish as you executed a move that the Corporal has taught you, a few surprised gasps came from the trainees as Keith fell to the ground.

        "Why you-!"

"The Corporal has not taught me of daydreams, he taught me that dreams are simply dreams without the right actions. The Lance Corporal might not have dreamed to be a part of the military, nor in his wildest dreams did it ever occur to him that he'd be highly respected. But he is himself in all situations, he's human deep inside. And for that reason he is my ray of hope, Humanity's hope of a brighter future, and there is nothing in this world that would stop me from believing that I could never regret the days I spent in his care. I hope with that I have made your thoughts clear, Captain Keith Shadis." You saluted once more and straightened your posture, your eyes staring at the man blankly as he stood up.

"Fine! Praise your Corporal for all I care!" The man let out an annoyed sound as he stretched his back, a hand rubbing his backside as he did. His eyes stared at you angrily as he passed onto the next soldier, barking at the trainee due to his bad mood.

After the Rite of Passage you slipped away from the rest of the trainees. Avoiding a certain brunette and his companions, but it would seem as though Fate was not on your side this day. You reached the end of the Training Grounds, you walked faster, looking at the end as though it was a goal. But once more, a hand gripped your wrists tight as you reached the end. You turned your gaze at the ground not wanting to face your captor, but he turned you around forcefully and slowly you looked at him. Your eyes meeting his own, and behind him Mikasa and Armin stood, with their eyes staring at you as if they were demanding an answer.

"Tell me...why did you leave us? That time...when we needed each other the most. Tell me, _____!!!" He gripped your shoulders tight as he spoke. Your eyes dropped to the ground as you opened your mouth to speak.

        "I...."
